Assessment for Learning is used in our school, and pupils are involved in peer- and self-assessment. Assessment against objectives and targets is a feature of practice and pupils know what they need to do to move on.

Rewards and praise are used to give learning a high status and to motivate learners. Our school has systems to overcome barriers to learning, using a range of interventions. These include learning mentors, revision days, peer mentors and reading buddy schemes.

What is Project-Based Learning?

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a systematic teaching method that engages students in learning essential knowledge and life-enhancing skills through an extended, student-influenced inquiry process structured around complex, authentic questions and carefully designed products and tasks.

PBL allows students to explore concepts in-depth and in an authentic, inquiry-driven manner. Many also argue that PBL engages students in more real-world situations, thus better preparing them for the 21st century. Emerging research indicates that using PBL results in more effective learning for most learning outcomes when compared to traditional methods of instruction.
